Easter Open Retreat 5-8 April 2012

Family Weekend 25-27 May 2012

Celebrating Creation Family Weekend

We will be welcoming families of all ages to join our family weekend, a great opportunity for families to be together, share with each other and with other families and to draw closer to God. Starting on a Friday evening with a buffet supper our programme will then offer time for young people to work with their own age group, time for adults to have space for prayer, input and sharing whilst having time in the weekend to relax together as a family, perhaps taking a walk in the surrounding area. Spending time as a family and sharing with others
is a real encouragement and valuable experience. A Castlerigg Family Weekend aims to offer families of all shapes and sizes the opportunity to be fed spiritually and physically and to take some time out together.

This weekend will be an opportunity to work with our young team of volunteers here at Castlerigg and others around the diocese to help you to grow and learn about this important step in your journey through life.

FLAME Congress 24 March 2012

The Papal visit in 2010 touched and transformed many lives at all levels of society. Being part of the 3000 strong young people who attended the Hyde Park event was nothing less than a transfiguration moment, especially when Hyde Park fell silent as we were led into adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with the Pope. Following in the footsteps of this memorable and historic time there is a real need to provide young people with the opportunity to celebrate their identity and faith together. Such an event is taking place next year in the run up to the Olympics on Saturday 24 March 2012. FLAME is an event open to those aged 14 upwards and will be being held in the Wembley Arena. 60,000 young people from across the country will be there; it will be a chance to come together, Listen to others, be creative, enjoy music and friendship, and experience our Catholic faith together. It’s an event specifically for young Catholics and their friends and YOU ARE invited. The Youth Service are organising a weekend visit to London incorporating the trip to FLAME and taking some time for sightseeing afterwards. Summit – Next Meeting 5 February 2012

Summit is a monthly event geared up for young adults (16+) from across the diocese. No other diocese can boast the beauty of our diocese with its Lake District and Castlerigg is right at the heart of it with easy access to Skiddaw, Blencathra, Sca Fell, Helvelyn, Derwentwater and the Newlands valley, not to mention the Trough of Bowland, Howgills, and stunning coastlines. After the meets at Castlerigg we often share a meal together and relax. Our next meeting is on Sunday 5 February at 1pm. This is taking place in conjunction with the Knights of St Columba who are organising a 10 mile walk to raise funds for Lourdes. We will meet at the parish room at the rear of St Peter’s RC Church, 4 Clifton Street, Lytham FY8 5EP and walk to St Anne’s Pier and return to the same place at about 4pm. Please note that there is no specific Summit Mass on this occasion. If you are walking, please bring a packed lunch and and let us know beforehand if you intend to come by phone or email, philip.conner@castleriggmanor.co.uk . If you are raising funds for Lourdes, please ensure that any monies are handed in to the Knights of St Columba who will then re-distribute the funds together with their own. Any cheques should be made out to ‘Knights of St Columba Province 7′.
