Fr John Paul was ordained on Saturday 4 July, a new priest for the Diocese of Lancaster. It was a source of great joy for all of us, especially as Fr John Paul has accompanied the Youth Service on many of the Lourdes and World Youth Day pilgrimages through the years. He was also a regular at the weekly youth group at Ladyewell shrine at Preston. Being ordained a priest is the fruit of many years of prayer, service, and study, and Fr John Paul first assignment will be the hospital chaplain in Blackpool and assistant priest in Poulton le Fylde. We thank God for the many graces He has poured on Fr John Paul, and for giving him the generosity of heart to respond. If anyone is thinking that they may have a call to the priesthood, never be afraid to speak to your local parish priest or to the Vocations Director, Fr Darren Carden in Preston or his assistant Fr John Millar in Carlisle, or visit the vocations webpage. They are there to help you to work out what God is calling you to. There are other events through the year too which may help you to explore the sense of vocation. Only last weekend was the annual Vocations Festival, Invocation, was held. Each year about 300 young people attend the Invocation events. On the journey to do God's will, you are never alone!
