Living in the Lake District is quite the blessing. The views are amazing year round. Recently the landscape became even more awe-inspiring as snowflakes found their way down onto the fells and into our gardens.

When the first snow fell, Austin introduced us to a game of standing outside in the snow and trying to avoid the snowflakes. Some of the team enjoyed the snow in a slightly more traditional way and built a snowman. In an effort to be good Christians, they provided their snowman with a scarf and gloves so that he would be able to keep warm. Some other team members decided to go up Walla Crag. After a little break to take in the views, the sledges were put to good use. People stopped to smile at a crazy bunch of gap year volunteers screaming their way down.

The snow was entertaining for more people than just the Castlerigg team. Also the young people staying with us for a weekend were very excited about the snow. They had a great time attacking each other with snowballs and their teachers happily joined in. The snow has been a very welcome replacement for all that rain!
