The entire Castlerigg team headed down to Barrow this week to run a mission at St Bernard's High School. We were working with Years 7-9, and found a very enthusiastic pupils. The theme of the mission was 'Be Transformed' (Rom. 12:2) and we were looking at how the power of Jesus's own death and resurrection can change our own lives. Through a combination of powerful testimonies, drama, teaching, and fun, the young people were able to reflect upon the theme. In the evenings, the team explored the delights of the Furness peninsula, sunbathing on the Roanhead sand dunes, bathing in the sea (!!?), playing hide-and-seek amongst the ruins of the abbey, eating fantastic food, and listening to our own private piano recital which was given to us by Fr Manny. High culture indeed! We had a great time in Barrow and we wanted to thank all who made us so welcome, the whole school for making these days possible, and we also wanted to say how delighted we are that so many pupils from St Bernard's have become involved in different Youth Service events this year.
