I don't know how your Lent is going? Still a few weeks left, so there is time yet to re-dedicate ourselves, to prepare ourselves, to make some time for prayer. Here's a great little story to inspire...

Have you ever heard of a 15-year old called Mary Jones? Maybe you know a “Mary Jones”, but this particular young lady inspired a movement without even knowing it. And today over 200 years later many people’s lives have been changed by her simple action.

In 1800 Mary Jones set out from her home and walked 26 miles – the equivalent of a marathon - to buy a Bible. Let’s remember in her time buying books, and especially Bibles was not something you could easily do. Bibles were very rare and expensive and, Mary, having become a Christian at the age of 8 had saved for six years to be able to buy the Bible. Once she had saved enough she walked to the house of Revd Thomas Charles to buy the Bible in her native tongue of Welsh, only to find that all the Welsh language Bibles had been sold and she would have to wait. Revd Charles kindly arranged lodgings for her whilst she waited for the new Bibles to arrive and 2 days later she was able to buy one from her savings.  So inspired by her passion and commitment that Revd Charles went on to help to establish the Bible Society which has served millions all over the world by giving them the Word of God in written form.
