Hi everyone, I'm Katie, I'm 18 years old and I'm from Blackpool.  Before I came to Castlerigg I went to college and studied Chemistry, Biology and Maths.  I am hoping to go to university one day to study Chemistry.  I first came to Castlerigg on retreat in year 9 and I loved it so much that I decided to come again in year 10.  I was also lucky enough to go to Lourdes three times with Castlerigg.  When I came here on retreat I was inspired by the work of the gap year volunteers and I wanted to help young people to discover and learn about their faith so I signed up for the gap year.

When I'm not working I enjoy shopping, going out with my friends and family, watching films and reading.  I am really excited for my year at Castlerigg and I am hoping to meet lots of nice people.

Hi, my name is Ella and I’m 18 years old. I am originally from Worcester, I then went to high school in Hereford and my mum now lives there, I later attended college in Manchester and now I live in South Wales! This is my first year of Youth Ministry and I’m really excited because it’s something I’ve always wanted to do.

I have a passion for cooking and my life long dream is to be a chef in my own restaurant, I also love reading, most team sports, music and intend to learn the ukulele while I’m here at Castlerigg. Glitter, unicorns and anything fluffy!

My name is Narquita, I'm 25 years old and I'm originally from Hampshire. I'm one on the retreat leaders here at Castlerigg Manor and I have been working in youth ministry for over 7 years.

I love travelling, shopping and anything creative or crafty! Speaking of travel, I lived in America serving as a missionary for the Church for three years in which I had the opportunity to explore a lot of states, and this past summer I spent travelling around Europe.

I'm really looking forward to welcoming all Castlerigg's visitors over the year and inviting you into sharing our communities journey of faith.

Keep the Faith,

Hi! My name is Paris-Ayo, I’m 18 years old and I come from Walney Island in Cumbria. I have just finished my A levels and have decided to take a gap year as a volunteer at Castlerigg before moving on to study Law at Lancaster University in 2018. In my spare time, I love to listen to music and I take every opportunity I can to sing whether that’s singing in shows or at weddings and other events.

Over the past few years I have been able to truly recognise the importance of my faith. On this gap year, I hope to be able to share my faith journey with young people and help them in discovering and understanding their own, ultimately bringing them closer to God, as I was helped by the Castlerigg team when I first came here on retreat in 2014.

I am extremely excited for what this year will bring and I can’t wait to meet you all!

I am Cleophas Tukamarwa and I am from Uganda.  This is my first time in UK and it is an amazing experience and great opportunity given to me by Castlerigg Youth Centre.
