Hello, I’m Fr. John. I have been a priest for seven years, and before coming to Castlerigg in 2015 I served in parishes in Cleator Moor and Poulton-le-Fylde and worked as hospital chaplain at Blackpool Victoria hospital.
I was born and brought up in Preston, but have always held a great love for the Lake District fells and feel greatly blessed to be living in Keswick. I come from a large family and always enjoy spending time with them, although these days we’re quite spread out. I went to St. Cecilia’s High School in Longridge before going to university to study computer science. I still occasionally use these skills for work or just for fun, and also enjoy fell walking (and recently qualified as a Mountain Leader), learning the piano and guitar and working as a chaplain with Lancashire Army Cadets.
My years at Castlerigg have so far been amazing: it is a privilege to work with so many wonderful young people and I look forward to welcoming you.
