Fr. Peter Stanton

Peter has been the director of Castlerigg since the summer of 2006. He has been a priest of the Diocese of Lancaster since 1987 and originally comes from the Fulwood area of Preston. Before taking over at Castlerigg, he was Chaplain to the University of Central Lancashire in Preston and prior to that, he worked in London with the Catholic Missionary Society. Fr. Peter also has a degree in Computer Science and is studying for an MA in Youth and Community Work. He is a very keen musician.

Is a Jaffa Cake a cake or a biscuit?This matter was decided in a V.A.T. tribunal. It is a cake, because cakes go hard when they are left and biscuits go soft.

Caroline Cole

Caroline came to Castlerigg in September 2003 and likes it so much she is still here! This is her first year as Team Leader. She is originally from Trowbridge in Wiltshire and went to University in Nottingham studying English and Theology. She spent a lovely year as the assistant Catholic Chaplain to the University and then some years in school chaplaincy before coming to Castlerigg. Caroline enjoys drinking tea, chatting, music, and cooking.

Michael Carpenter

Michael is in his second year as a youth tutor at Castlerigg. He comes originally from Cardiff in Wales, but now spends most of his time in the Northeast when he is not working. Over the years Michael has had quite a few different experiences of working for the church, but his role here a Castlerigg is his first in full time youth work. Michael spent part of his summer in Lourdes with the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. He enjoys reading Harry Potter and is a big Ann Rice fan who writes about vampires - spooky!

Rebecca Totten

Becs is in her first year as a youth tutor at Castlerigg Manor. She grew up in Northern Ireland and is sad that her accent has faded. Home for Becs now is Newcastle under Lyme in Staffordshire. Becs has a degree in English and Drama form the University of Wales in Aberystwyth. She has just spent a year volunteering at Savio house in Macclesfield. Becs plans to complete an MA in youth work at Durham University and hopes to be a fully fledged youth worker in two years. She loves to sing, eat cheese and spend time with her beautiful friends.

Sharon McGarel

Sharon is from Birmingham and is in her first year as a youth tutor at Castlerigg Manor. She has lots of experience in working with young people and spent a two years as Chaplain at St. Paul's school for girls in Birmingham. Family and friends are very important to Sharon and time spent with them is precious. She loves to play and watch rugby (especially if Johnny Wilkinson is playing!) and would love to travel the world one day especially to Cambodia and the Maldives. Sharon loves to drink tea and sleep.

Carl Fisher

Carl Fisher is from Leeds. After completing a course at Notre Dame Catholic College, Carl has decided to take a year out of education to work with young people, spending a year volunteering at Castlerigg. Carl's role model is Pope John Paul II, - someone he looks to for inspiration. Carl is an upbeat character, very open and always ready to meet new people. He enjoys spending time with friends and family. He loves to dance and sing along to cheesy music. Carl's favourite quote is to "Have fun and share faith..."

Patricia Benson

Patricia Benson is from Fleetwood and is part of a very large family. She is a former pupil of Cardinal Allen High School. On completing her time at Cardinal Allen, Patricia went to college for four years to study childcare. Patricia has chosen to become a gap year volunteer at Castlerigg. Patricia enjoys spending her spare time with her family and friends; she is a lovable character, full of life and always ready for a laugh. Patricia enjoys all types of music and also enjoys arts and crafts. She is talented young lady.

Fr. Peter Sharrock

Peter is a bit of a legend in the annuls of Castlerigg history. He was director of the centre from 1983-1993 and, as if that wasn't enough, he came back for a second helping at the start of 2005 when he also took up post as parish priest in Keswick - doing both jobs at once! SInce September 2006 he has been a chaplain to the community at Castlerigg and a youth work advisor. He also plays a large role in courses when Fr. Peter Stanton is having well deserved rests! Fr. Peter is from preston originally and has been a priest of Lancaster Diocese since 1978. He has served in quite a few parishes round the diocese including in Preston, Morecambe, Wigton, Carlisle and Lancaster.
