In a world of so much recrimination and revenge, hatred and division, it is beautiful to remember God's mercy. When Jesus rose from the dead, his first words to the apostles who had betrayed him, were, 'Peace be with you!' Recently, we came across a very powerful Youtube of a young Iraqi girl who shows us what mercy is in forgiving what ISIS has done to her and her family and her entire world. It's definitely worth watching.
Tomorrow is Divine Mercy Sunday when we celebrate the gift of God's mercy and implore it for our world. Pope Francis will be inaugurating a Year of Mercy and the next World Youth Day will be held in Krakow in Poland where St Faustina received her visions of Christ and the Divine Mercy. The theme for the World Youth Day is 'Blessed are the Merciful' (Mt. 5). In order to help us to prepare for World Youth Day, we can announce that we are holding a World Youth Day Fest at Castlerigg this summer.
